Though born in the United States in 2008, Justin Bodhi carried the presence of an ancient soul—one that carried the memories and wisdom of sacred lands in the Far East. Justin Bodhi was a devoted son, a second-degree black belt and state Taekwondo champion, an Eagle Scout candidate, a wilderness skills teen leader, a homeschooler, and an artist. He lived with mindfulness, courage, and compassion—leaving lessons for us all.

The Tragical documentary began in October 2023, weeks before his passing, when Justin met filmmaker Joe Plante in Greece—a meeting that would become destiny. The film weaves together Justin’s remarkable life, the profound impact he made, the messages that followed, and the journey of his ashes to his soul’s home in Bhutan.

In October 2026, Melanie Ryan, Justin’s father Andy Steigmeier, and filmmaker Joe Plante will travel to Bhutan to complete the documentary. Filming will capture rarely visited Himalayan temples, sacred ceremonies with Buddhist masters, lamas, and yogis, and moments of living tradition—from archery to wilderness skills. These teachings reveal that death is not to be feared, but honored—and that understanding impermanence allows us to live more fully, love more deeply, and remember who we truly are.
