The Story of an American Buddha Boy

Tragical: A Journey from Tragic to Magic tells the story of Justin Bodhi, a young American boy—a Buddha boy—born with extraordinary wisdom and a quiet magic. In December 2023, at just fifteen years old, his life ended suddenly due to an asymptomatic aneurysm.

In the days following his death, signs from Justin began to appear to his parents, friends, and even those he never met. Signs, synchronicities, and whispers from another dimension were received by many. Justin is teaching a profound wisdom, what if physical death is not the end?

Though born in the United States in 2008, Justin Bodhi carried the wisdom and presence of an ancient one. What if birth is not the beginning?​ Justin Bodhi invites us to explore the possibility that consciousness is infinite—that life does not begin at birth, nor end at death.​ 

 

We began filming Tragical right after his sudden passing. Justin had met a film producer in Greece just 7 weeks before he would die. Was this meeting divinely orchestrated? It has been over two years of production, and now Justin is guiding us to his soul’s home - Bhutan—the happiest country in the world—where death is not seen as an ending, but as a sacred passage into the infinite. 

 

Through this journey, Justin Bodhi invites us to remember who we truly are.

In October 2026, Justin’s parents will deliver his ashes to Bhutan, where they will be spread into a most sacred river. Filmmaker Joe Plante will film this sacred act, which will bring the filming to its completion on the 3rd anniversary of when Justin met Joe in Greece. 

 

Our time in Bhutan will capture rarely visited Himalayan temples, sacred ceremonies with Buddhist masters, lamas, and yogis, and moments of living tradition—from archery to primitive living skills. Bhutan is a 95% Buddhist country, the last Buddhist kingdom on the planet. It is a sacred place of wisdom and compassion. Their ancient wisdom teachings reveal that death is not to be feared but honored—and that understanding impermanence allows us to live more fully, love more deeply, and remember who we truly are.
