Tragical tells the story of a deeply loving and wise soul—Justin Bodhi, a young American boy, a Buddha boy—who lived an extraordinary life filled with love, mindfulness, and wisdom… until it ended suddenly and tragically. Justin was a devoted son, a second-degree black belt and state Taekwondo champion, an Eagle Scout candidate, a wilderness skills teen leader, a homeschooler, and an artist. He transitioned at the age of fifteen, and almost immediately began sending signs from the afterlife. Justin’s Spirit continues to guide and teach us. Though born in the United States, he was an ancient soul, carrying the memory of sacred lands in the Far East.

 

His Spirit now leads us to Bhutan—the happiest country in the world—where death is not an ending, but a sacred passage into the infinite. Through his story, Justin invites us to remember who we truly are.

 

The Tragical documentary began in October 2023, when Justin met filmmaker Joe Plante in Greece, just weeks before his sudden passing. The film captures Justin’s life, the impact he made, the signs he sent from the afterlife, and his wish to have his ashes returned to his soul’s home.

 

In October 2026, Melanie Ryan, Justin’s father Andy Steigmeier, and filmmaker Joe Plante will travel to Bhutan to fulfill Justin’s wish and complete the documentary. Filming will capture rarely visited Himalayan temples, sacred ceremonies with Buddhist masters, lamas, and yogis, and moments of living tradition—from archery to wilderness skills. These teachings show that death is not to be feared, but honored, and that understanding impermanence allows life to be lived more fully and loved more deeply.

 

As Justin returns home, he brings us all back to our hearts, reconnecting us with the wisdom of who we are.
